ANAS Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry after acad. M.Nagiyev held republican conference on the "Science Day" and 150th anniversary of the formation of the Chemical Elements Periodic Table by Russian scientist D.Mendeleyev.

The event was attended by teachers, masters and students of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, as well as teachers and pupils of the school after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, Young Talents and European Lyceums under the Baku State University, Classical Gymnasium number 160 and the Baku secondary school number 192.

The conference was opened by Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute, academician Dilgam Taghiyev and noted that, 2019 was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Chemical Elements Periodic Table.

He stressed that, the development of theoretical bases of the concepts defined by periodic law and its practical application are actual today, adding that the Mendeleyev's system allows the creation of modern chemical technologies, as well as the use of durable alloys and certain substances.

Then, at the conference were delivered papers by D.Taghiyev on "The periodic system of chemical elements as the fundamental law of nature", dean of the Chemistry faculty of Baku State University, Professor Abdulsaid Azizov on " Periodic system of chemistry teaching" and Professor of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University Minira Aghahuseynova on "Importance of the periodic system in the discovery of new elements".

Then, Acting Academician-Secretary of ANAS Division of Chemical Sciences, academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Vice-Rector of Baku State University, corresponding member of ANAS Aydin Kazim-zade, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, corresponding member of ANAS Babanly Mahammad and others made their comments and suggestions.

At the end of the event, were demonstretad a number of interesting experiments at the laboratory.
