Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS held the 16th traditional republican scientific and theoretical conference on "Problems of the history of Azerbaijani culture in manuscripts".

The conference was held in accordance with the Order of the AR President of Azerbaijan "On the 100th anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis of 1918" dated January 18, 2018.

Speaking at the event, Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli  said that, the order is a sign of deep respect and respect for the memory of the victims of the genocide on March 31". Academician brought to attention that, with the aim of realizing the idea of "Great Armenia" Armenian nationalists at different times conducted ethnic cleansing, deportations and genocides against our compatriots.

From March 30 to April 3, 1918, Armenian Dashnak armed groups led by Stepan Shaumyan and Andranik Ozanyan brutally killed tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis, destroyed historical, cultural monuments and mosques in Shamakhi, Guba, Lenkoran, Zangezur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other regions.

Isa Habibbayli noted that the first political assessment of these events was given by the national leader Heydar Aliyev and on March 26, 1998 by the decree of the great leader March 31 was declared "Day of genocide of Azerbaijanis". He brought to the attention that after this decree, research and publicizing the tragedies committed by Armenians against our people, published research papers and books.

Academician said that, based on the Order of AR President Ilham Aliyev "On the 100th anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis of 1918", conferences were held in the departments of the Humanitarian and Social Sciences of ANAS, books were published.

Then, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, director of the institute academician Teymur Kerimli noted that, in the twentieth century, Armenians committed four acts of genocide against Azerbaijanis and deportations. It was emphasized that in 1905-1907, 1917-1920, 1948-1953 and 1988-1994, tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis were killed and expelled from their historical lands.

T.Kerimli in 1918 the fact of genocide was proved by investigative materials, which are still fully disclosed today, and are brought to the international community.

Then, were listened reports by Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs, Doctor of Philology, Professor Aybeniz Aliyeva-Kengerli on "Armenian Vandalism", Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Pasha Kerimov on "March events of 1918 in documents (based on the materials of the Institute of Manuscripts, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Kamandar Sharifov on "Destroyed Library", Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Naila Samedova on "Reflection of Bloody Events in Memories", Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor Azizaga Najafov on "The facts of the March genocide in the poem "Lament of Spring" by Mirza Aghadadash Munir".

The conference continued its work in the sections.
