Researchers of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS attended Baku International Humanitarian Forum

Heydar Aliyev Center hosted the 3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum, 31 October - 1 November. The forum aimed to discuss topical issues of humanitarian cooperation and was attended by numerous representatives from different countries, as prominent public and political figures, former presidents, Nobel Prize winners and other officials.

The section session of the forum held on November 1 and entitled "Actual problems of media in the globalized information space" included the dialogue between new technologies, modern media, the media and the civilizations: from polarization of the cultures towards interactions and tolerance, as well as traditional journalism and social networks.

Researchers of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS took an active part in the section sessions. Head of department of the Institute, PhD in Economics, associate professor Alovsat Aliyev presented his report titled "Formation of the modern media and information economy" and informed about the role and position of modern media system in the society, media system as a development factor, ICT and the Internet as the basis for media system, transformation issues of media, economic aspects, the concepts of media economy and information economy and so on.

Head of department of the Institute, PhD in Technology Yadigar Imamverdiyev presented his report titled "Mass media – from information wars to dialogue" and noted that the media joined globalization process in early 20th century. He touched upon the issues such as Mass Media and information wars, interactions between the civilizations, the role of Mass Media in the civilizations’ dialogue. Global security threats facing the humanity had increased in number and scale, he mentioned.

ITAR- TASS Deputy Director Mikhail Gusman, U.S. Jamestown Foundation Senior Research Fellow Vladimir Sokor, Turkey Anatolia News Agency Director Kemal Ozturk, Kazakhstan Kazinform Director Dauren Diyarov, dean of the journalism faculty of Baku State University ptof. Shamil Aliyev and others made speeches and shared their views on the topic.
