Republican scientific conference titled “South Caucasus Studies: Current State, Problems and Perspectives” was held

The republican scientific conference titled “South Caucasus Studies: Current State, Problems and Perspectives” was held with the organization of the Institute of Caucasian Studies of ANAS on October 23.

The event took place at the Central Scientific Library. At first the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. Following that, the memory of our martyrs was honored with a moment of silence.

Academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, the acting vice-president of ANAS said that the state of Azerbaijan is living the brightest period of its history during the independence period under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The Academician underlined the importance of studying the realities emerged in the South Caucasus after the historic victory achieved under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

Ramila Dadashova, the acting director of the Institute of Caucasian Studies, Doctor of Political Sciences, docent, spoke about the activities of the institution and provided information about the events and the publications.

A total of 39 scientists and researchers from various institutes of ANAS, higher educational institutions and scientific organizations operating in Azerbaijan presented their reports at the conference.

The reports were discussed in three sections. The research of strategic analytical centers on the Caucasus in various states, including the activities of research centers on the Caucasus in the USA, Japan, European states, Russia, Türkiye, Iran, Israel, Georgia, and Armenia were studied. The works of scientists who have contributed to the study of the Caucasus in Azerbaijan were analyzed.  At the same time, the issues of studying various problems of the Caucasus were also investigated in research conducted in foreign countries.

A final evaluation was carried out in the end.

It should be noted that since 2017, the Institute of Caucasus Studies has held three international forums of Caucasiologists, three international and eight republican scientific conferences, and published reports and theses. The works of the scientists of the institute have been published in high-ranking international scientific journals. The scientific-theoretical journal of the institute titled “Qafqazşünaslıq” (“Caucasus Studies”), published in three languages, is included in two international indexes. The institute operates a website in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English (www.caucasusstudies.az).
