With the returning of Heydar Aliyev to the power in 1969, national-moral values were seriously focused on in the republic. Celebrating 1300th anniversary of Kitabi Dede-Gorgud by UNESCO has been solicited by Heydar Aliyev on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well, then, UNESCO made a decision on the jubilee".

These thoughts were sounded in the 67th “Heydar Aliyev’s lecture” which held in Nakhchivan Branch  of ANAS on September 22.

Opening the meeting chairman of the Branch Academician Ismayil Hajiyev brought to mind that, while Heydar Aliyev’s leadership in the republic, both in the Soviet era, and in the years of independence, development and promotion of national values in an international globe was mainstreamed. 

“Kitabi-Dede Gorgud” is our mother epitaph. Dede Gorgud is such archaic historic visage that our people commemorate it with great love. Currently, Heydar Aliyev’s promotion policy of Dede Gorgud is being realized by President Ilham Aliyev, stressed out director of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature of the Branch, corresponding member of ANAS Abulfaz Guliyev.

Screening "Dede Gorgud" film based on playwright Anar’s narrative film by great leader Heydar Aliyev's instructions and recommendations in 1975, historical decree on celebrating the 1300th anniversary of "Kitabi Dede -Gorgut" epic in 1997, Order on the Action Plan of State Commission in regard of celebrating 1300th anniversary of "Kitabi Dede-Gorgud" in 1999, importing Dresden copy of the monument to Azerbaijan from Germany at the state level in 2000 were played major role in promoting and recognizing of the epic.
