Amin Ismayilov, head of the laboratory of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, corresponding member of ANAS, has been appointed a representative of the International Network of Soil Information Institutes (INSII) in Azerbaijan under the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Global Land Partnership (GSP) program.
This was stated in the statement of the FAO GSP Secretariat. It was noted that the development of a global map of organic carbon potential in the soil (GSOCseq) has begun. Similar maps for each country will be submitted to FAO by INSII national representatives.
As a first step in this direction, a 5-day training was held at the FAO Headquarters in Rome on November 16-20, 2020 via video conference. At the suggestion of Amin Ismayilov, two other young Azerbaijani specialists in digital land mapping also participated in the training.
