Institute of the History of Science of ANAS held event "Azerbaijanis of the world: the triumph of solidarity and unity" dedicated to the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis on December 31.

Director of the Institute, Doctor of History Maryam Seidbeyli told about the history of the national holiday of solidarity. It was noted that, given the importance of rallying our compatriots around a single ideology in the most difficult and difficult period for the Azerbaijani state and people, the great leader Heydar Aliyev decided to establish the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis on December 16, 1991. This holiday is of particular importance for the strengthening of spiritual ties between our compatriots living in Azerbaijan and abroad, the organization of Azerbaijani communities and diasporas abroad, the creation and transfer from generation to generation of the ideology of Azerbaijanism.

Then, the scientific secretary of the institute, Ph.D. in political sciences, assistant professor Zaur Aliyev delivered a report on "The activities of the Azerbaijani lobby and Diasporas". Z.Aliyev stressed the invaluable merits of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in the creation of the state structure implementing the diaspora policy of the Azerbaijani state in the modern period and bringing it up to today's high level.

Speaking on the topic "31 December - World Day of Unity of Azerbaijanis", the Institute's scientific employee, Ph.D. in economics Amal Hasanli noted that, today more than 50 million Azerbaijanis live in the world. Over the past period, after the restoration of state independence, Azerbaijan has managed to establish close ties with the world community. The reporter brought to the notice that December 31 is celebrated by our compatriots in various parts of the world as a significant day of solidarity and national unity of Azerbaijanis.
