This year marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of the play "Mother" by the prominent representative of the Azerbaijani romantic literary trend, great playwright and poet-philosopher Huseyn Javid.

On this occasion ANAS Huseyn Javid’s Memorial Flat held a "round table" of the museum.

Director of the museum, Doctor of Philology Gulbaniz Babakhanli spoke about the work of the great playwright. She noted that, Huseyn Javid started dramatic creation in 1910, having written the play "Mother". This play is considered to be the first prosaic dramatic work written in the Azerbaijani language. The work was published in 1913 in the publishing house "Georgian Company" in Tbilisi.

It was noted that, despite the fact that the theme of the play "Mother" was borrowed from a medieval Italian novel, Javid managed to bring it into line with the Azerbaijani-Turkic mentality. The heroine of the play - mother Salma embodies courage, spiritual nobility and a sense of human loyalty.

Further, the museum's scientists provided detailed chronological information about the work, the history of the play on the stage and the heroes - Salma, Kanpolad, Ismat, Salim.

At the event, was listened a report on "The Work "Mother" by Huseyn Javid - 105 (literary and historical chronicle)".

Then, at the Theater of Young Spectator the museum staff has watched the premiere of the drama "Mother", produced by the Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan Bahram Osmanov. The main role was played by Honored Artist Nubar Novruzov.
