Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Today, the founder of the ecological agricultural movement and ecological agricultural scientific school in Azerbaijan, Honored Teacher, director of the Regional Experimental Resource Center for Organic Agriculture at the Institute of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of ANAS in Gakh, Professor Amin Babayev, is 70 years old.

Amin Hajibaba oglu Babayev was born on May 5, 1950 in the village of Saribash in the Gakh region. Here he received his first education, and in 1972 he graduated from the Agronomy Department of the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute (now the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University). Then he continued his studies at the graduate school of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov.

A. Babayev began his career at the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute in 1976. Until 1982, he worked as an assistant, assistant professor at the department of soil science. In 1982-1985, he was a professor at the Katibugu Agricultural Institute of the Republic of Mali, and from 1985-1998 he was an assistant professor, professor, head of the soil science department of the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute, and in 1996 was elected president of the Ganja Agribusiness Association. In 1998-2000, he worked as the director of the Ganja Scientific and Technical Center under the State Committee for Science and Technology. In 2007-2014, he worked as the head Department of Soil Science, Agrochemistry and Ecological Agriculture of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University.

A. Babayev received his PhD in 1976, his doctoral degree in 1995 and the title of professor in 1997.

Having devoted 48 years of his life to scientific and scientific-pedagogical activity at the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University and ANAS, the scientist made an important contribution to the science of soil science in Azerbaijan. Over the past 30 years, he has worked hard to develop two scientific and practical fields in Azerbaijan - organic farming, agricultural consulting and information services.

Under the guidance of the professor, scientific, methodological and scientific information bases of the ecological agricultural movement were created in accordance with international standards, as well as the legal framework with his direct participation.

In preparing the Strategic Roadmap in this area, the “Concept of the National Program for the Development of Organic Agriculture in Azerbaijan” was used, developed by the Regional Experimental Resource Center for Organic Agriculture under the direction of A. Babayev.

The scientist is the author of 5 monographs, about 200 scientific, 30 journalistic articles, 20 books, booklets, brochures, textbooks and teaching aids. Under his leadership, was prepared 3 doctors of sciences and 8 doctors of philosophy.

By presidential decree of May 18, 2010, he was awarded the honorary title “Honored Teacher”. A. Babayev was awarded the orders of MV Lomonosov and Vernadsky of the UN International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety, as well as the Star of a Scientist medal for his services in the field of science and education. In addition, the scientist is the winner of the United World Award (OWA) (2017) for his scientific and social activities.

We congratulate Professor Amin Babayev on his 70th birthday and wish him many years of life, robust health and achievements in the development of Azerbaijan science.
